KBR serves as a systems engineering integrator on many missile defense systems including Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD), command and control systems like the Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) and various sensors including the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS). We have supported the Patriot missile system for more than 40 years, and we enable maritime sensor integration, shipboard command and control interoperability, ensuring platforms operate seamlessly within joint air and missile defense architectures. KBR partners with the U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force to provide counter-unmanned aircraft systems expertise to protect these critical systems and the warfighter.

KBR’s design, fabrication, assembly, training, testing and integration expertise brings the speed-of-light capabilities of lethal laser weapons to the tactical edge of the battlefield. KBR has an industry-leading collection of directed energy subject matter experts with extensive backgrounds in electro-optics, software engineering, artificial intelligence/machine learning, predictive avoidance, systems engineering and integration.

KBR’s directed energy team leads the U.S. Army’s effort to develop its first fieldable high-energy laser (HEL) weapon system. The effort will ultimately result in the fielding of the Directed Energy Maneuver - Short Range Air Defense (DE M-SHORAD) system designed to defeat unmanned aerial systems, both rotary and fixed-wing, as well as rockets, artillery and mortars (RAM). The DE M-SHORAD system is a fully mobile, 50-kilowatt (kW)-class high energy laser capable of delivering sustained counter-unmanned aircraft systems (C-UAS) and counter-rocket, artillery, mortar (C-RAM) firepower. KBR’s FIREFLYTM high-energy laser system, a self-contained directed energy solution, offers protection wherever defense is needed. The FIREFLY is a self-contained, palletized system that maximizes performance, reliability, maintainability and transportability. The FIREFLY is based on KBR’s scalable high-energy laser architecture and provides significantly reduced size, weight, power and cost affordability.
