KBR’S Enterprise Thick Client Software Application for Space Domain Awareness

Space Domain Characterization Control System is KBR’s flagship thick client software application, providing Space Domain Awareness (SDA) capabilities and decision support to space operators and analysts. The application supports ad hoc information requests due to emerging real-world events in addition to daily operational requirements. SDCCS provides critical information and guides users to focus areas by providing operator-configured rulesets based on their priorities.

Key Capabilities

SDCCS is a Java-based analytical platform that focuses on robust space intelligence operations, data integration, visualizations and automated data analytics.

SITUATION MONITORING

The application provides a comprehensive space situational awareness picture by integrating air, maritime and ground data sources.

DATA INGESTION

The application ingests a variety of data feeds and sources – both intel and operations, and commercial Space Situation Awareness (SSA) sources.

DATA ANALYSIS

The application evaluates analytical results against user-configured rulesets and derives severity and priority, then visualizes accordingly, including warning and alerting.

VISUALIZATION

The application provides 3D, 2D, tabular, plot and user-derived visualization. Products can be easily exported to Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

Trusted Experience

SDCCS has proven performance supporting the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Space Command. It is the first SDA application operationally accepted at the National Space Defense Center (NSDC) and has been designated the primary on-orbit display for U.S. Space Command. SDCCS is also used operationally at sea by the U.S. Navy carrier strike group in a disconnected, low bandwidth environment. SDCCS integrates data from multiple U.S. government data-as-a-service platforms, including the Unified Data Library (UDL) and WarpCore. It integrates data feeds including 18th SPCS ASW Catalog, OPIR, DISOB, Thresher, GCCS, MIDB, Earth Weather, Space-Track.org, Integrated Broadcast System (IBS) and NASIC intel databases. SDCCS supports space to air, space to ground, and space to maritime analysis, as well as C-C5ISRT. Application processing includes, but is not limited to, uncorrelated track processing, observation processing, state updates, conjunction analysis, sensor pass schedules, and indications and warnings.
