KBR GmbH has partnered with the ESA European Astronaut Centre (EAC) at every stage of the ESA Space Medicine Team’s (SMT’s) more than 20-year journey to implement a complete European concept of space medical operations for ESA astronauts. This has helped the agency develop independent expertise, directly contribute its resources, and know when to rely on the support of other partners.

  • Networks KBR colleagues worldwide to facilitate the transfer of knowledge and experience for unique space medicine projects (e.g., NASA funded Bed Rest studies at the DLR Institute of Aerospace Medicine’s :envihab facility)

KBR GmbH’s primary customers include the ESA, Axiom Space, Andoya Space, JFJ Consulting GmbH, and the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR), Germany’s national research center for aeronautics and space. The KBR team has significantly contributed to medical research studies with the Institut de Medecine et de Physiologie Spatiales (MEDES), the Institute for Space Medicine and Physiology in Toulouse, France, and the ESA-sponsored Berlin Bed Rest study. KBR GmbH has also provided NASA with Bed Rest support services conducted at DLR’s Institute for Aerospace Medicine and facilitated ISS food for ESA and NASA astronauts participating in the SOLO experiment via a contract with Astrium.

ESA aims to play a key role in human global exploration and so has partnered with KBR GmbH to coordinate a programme of work entitled Movement in Low Gravity (MoLo).
