Methane Pyrolysis Technology

Methane pyrolysis technology leverages KBR’s world class technology licensing and engineering expertise to deliver Hazer’s patented methane pyrolysis technology. Strategically relevant to KBR’s broader energy transition technology suite, this technology is part of KBR’s hydrogen-to-energy vector alongside other decarbonization technologies.

The process enables the localized production of low-emission hydrogen and high-quality synthetic graphite from methane (natural gas or biogas) using iron ore as a process catalyst. This is a form of methane pyrolysis, often referred to as “turquoise hydrogen” production, that is differentiated from other methane pyrolysis technologies with its low-cost iron ore catalyst, scalable fluid bed reactor and graphite co-product, which enable a lower cost clean hydrogen alternative to green and blue hydrogen.

Tyre Pyrolysis Technology

This unique technology recovers valuable tyre pyrolysis oil and carbon black from tyres to close the circular supply chain loop for the tyre and rubber industries globally.

KBR is jointly marketing, licensing and delivering modularized tyre recycling projects for end-of-life tyres with Klean Industries.

In addition to being Klean’s exclusive licensing partner for designing and delivering integrated tyre recycling solutions, KBR will also undertake studies and provide basic engineering, technical services, proprietary equipment and modular solutions for this technology.

Tyre pyrolysis technology efficiently utilizes waste rubber from tyres and converts it into a reusable feedstock for original supply chains and establishes a completely circular tyre industry.
